Why I’m Running
I'm running because District 1 deserves leadership that doesn't flinch when the decisions are hard.
The next few years will determine the future of Rose Park and Fairpark. We're facing questions about large-scale redevelopment, how we grow, and who gets to stay. I'm running to make sure those answers put our neighborhoods first—not developers, not outside interests, but the people who call this place home.
Prior to being elected in 2021, I served on the Historic Landmark Commission and was recognized as Salt Lake City's Deedee Corradini Emerging Leader. As Executive Director of the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, I work alongside small business owners and families navigating real economic pressure. I know what happens when decisions get made without the people most affected at the table.
Leadership isn't about saying yes to everything or making everyone comfortable. It's about being clear on what you stand for. I've pushed back when redevelopment plans didn't include enforceable community benefits. I've demanded more when state policies on homelessness fell short of actual solutions. And when families fought to keep Newman Elementary open, I stood with them - because schools, parks, and local businesses are what make a neighborhood worth protecting.
Growth is inevitable. The question is whether it strengthens our community or hollows it out. I'm running to ensure longtime residents aren't priced out, that public investment serves the public, and that the Westside's future is built with the same grit and resilience that's always defined it.
The stakes are high. The decisions are real. And I'm running to continue doing this work with clarity, courage, and an unwavering focus on District 1.
